Duality of Man

Duality of Man was created in 48 hours for the Utah Indie Game Jam. The game was made in the Unity3D game engine, with level assets and character models being created in Maya.

The game is a 2-player co-op platformer where the players need to solve puzzles in order to help each other progress. This can be done by pressing buttons that activate mechanisms in the other world.

The theme for the game is "contrast." The two worlds the players find themselves in are drastically different in design, with player one navigating a grayscale, sharp world, while player two navigates a colorful, round one.

Major Roles

Level Development

I modeled the level assets and designed the textures that are being used in the game.

I also managed level design. I would create a level, play through it, get feedback from my teammate, and make changes as need be.

Character Design and Modeling

The concept for the two characters being from two drastically different worlds was chosen early on. I had to find a way to show that the characters are from their respective worlds.

To keep it simple, I used the basic geometries of each world, cube and sphere, and placed into a humanoid shape. The characters were then given textures that would allow them to stand out in their environments, as seen with the outlines on the grayscale character and the white splotches on the colorful character.
